Autumn Letting Go and Planning

Writer's picture: Kate MooresKate Moores

After a week away deep into west coast Scotland, then, after a stunning 4 hour drive, along the length of Loch Ness, to the east coast for a few days with friends at Findhorn....I really LET GO!

I spend the week on Ardnamurchan resting and reading....and feeding the local pine marten and shrew population!

Getting back into gear, into work mode has proven harder the past couple of days, but here I am again.

We often spend time reviewing the past year and making plans for the new one in January, but I find Autumn is also a reflective time. Letting go of the big push of the summer, the course creation, selling the course, art shows and so on. It's a LOT, let me tell you!

Now, with Colour My Mojo just over half way through, my thoughts now turn to giving some good content in my facebook group, Creative Hands Tribe, for the rest of this year and into 2022.

So now I have a whole new plan. Our monthly creative challenge weekends will now happen in the odd months (January, March, May, July, September and November) and in between, Creatornoon Zooms!

WHAT?

I know! Well, since the roaring success of the Sketchbooks playshop run on zoom in the Spring, I felt the desire to connect my tribe together into a community, where they actually meet, chat and share. None of us especially love spending our entire creative time in total isolation. Together we can cross-pollinate ideas, inspire and support each other. Over the past almost two years I have really come to love and value the artistic communities I have become a part of, via zoom. Not only has it made up for in-person life drawing sessions, but it has blown the doors off that with the vast range of model artists i get to work with, the other artists I chat and share our drawings and musings with, the inspiration that comes form that, plus some really special friendships have grown too. This has meant the world to me and I would like to create something like that for my own Creative Hands Tribe.

And so, Creatornoons....we get together, with our sketchbooks, any current projects, and a brew. We will share our work, our thoughts and chitchat while we work. Plus I will be sharing a technique, or a project I am working on or share around a creative issue while we go.

And there's MORE! I hope to also bring a series of interviews with other artists through the next 12 months...so excited!

We are not alone, we are all connected. As artists we do not compete, we simple share and inspire each other as we journey. I love it!
